If you are a company that relies on IPv4 addresses to use the Internet and perform other functions, then you might be concerned about the fact that these addresses are running out. There are a limited supply and most of them have already been assigned. As a result, whenever IPv4 addresses free up, it would be in your best interest to purchase them in order to increase your supply and decrease the chances that you will have to switch addressing systems in the future, which will be a long and expensive switch. However, you might not know exactly how you are supposed to find available IPv4 addresses or sell them. Here are some tips.

1. Look for Bankrupt Companies

If you know that a company is going to declare bankruptcy or has already done so, then you should reach out to that company to see what kind of addressing system they use and, if they use IPv4, whether they would be willing to sell their addresses. Independent companies are allowed to sell addresses to one another privately, but only need to let the American Registry for Internet Numbers know so that all information that ARIN has is up to date.

You want to target bankrupt companies because they will be looking to sell off everything that they can in order to pay off their creditors and will often be able to sell you a good deal of IPv4 addresses for a reasonable price. If you do choose to contact a bankrupt company, buying in bulk tends to be the most effective way of getting the best price per address. You don't want these addresses to go to waste.

2. Check With the Government

Another possibility for finding a seller of IPv4 addresses is with government agencies that are being defunded or are downsizing. These agencies are also going to need to recoup money in order to deal with a slashed budget and will be able to possibly sell you any addresses that they are not using.

3. Try Address Brokers

Your last person that you can reach out to in order to purchase IPv4 addresses are public brokers. These IPv4 brokers are going to charge a higher fee for their services, since they specialize in selling addresses, but will also allow you to use the IPv4 addresses publicly. This is the easiest and fastest way to get addresses, although also the most expensive.

For more information, talk to a company that specializes in selling and buying these addresses.
